Carpets are normally used to impart life and more beauty to the living room or the hallway or in some other portions of the house. A standard household would more or less possess at least two carpets. However, carpet scavenging will claim several hours, if not the whole day, from taking out furniture, trailing heavy cleaning machines, to the factual tedious carpet cleaning work. Thus, most people hangout to charter professional cleaners to do the job. This way, they can pass more time with their families. Below are several significant hints in Opting the company that would offer the Most Dependable carpet cleaning services:
Obtain a certified carpet cleaner. Make sure-footed that the company you are Selecting has a authentication that they really have undergone professional educations. With the high service rate of carpet cleaning, there is no doubt that a bunch of non-certified carpet cleaners will provide their functions at lower values. You must be favourable enough if you cause to have your carpet cleaned and continue undamaged.
Take a reckon at the cost. Carpet scavenging is a no user-friendly job; hence, most company who propose said servicing charge quite high. Yet you have to look at whether the charge they are postulating is rational enough for you to stimulate your carpet cleaned. Serving fees must not be excessively high as purchasing a entire new carpet but must not be excessively low as buying a detergent soap.
Inquiry on the companys background. If you already have in judgment what party to go to for carpet cleaning, then do a little search on its background as well as its servicing record. Ask around. Make detailed that the said company has a bond certificate and indemnity. This is to verify that the company you prefer will be compensating for the cost of the damages to your house they may acquire during the carpet cleaning work.
Ask for friends help. It is in demand if you call for your neighbor who does their carpet cleaning. And whether did they like it or not. This way, you can determine that you have the Most Operative cleaners.
Ask from last customers. If your picked out cleaners have been in the line of work for several years, it is believable that they already have a great deal of clients. Ask for their names. When you have them with you now, it is time for you to do a little explore. You may travel to former clients or call them on the phone. This way, they can serve you resolve whether to permit them to do the carpet cleaning for you as well.
Inquire about their employees. Some companies do not have their own scavenging employees. They do the PR works only yet they engage sub-contracting employees to perform the job. If this is the case, it is better to look for other companies who carry their own employees. If the company designates the cleaning job to sub-contracting employees, they will have little check over the cleansers. Hence, they may refuse or turn down to compensate in case they perish or harm something in your house during the carpet cleaning procedure.

Melbourne, Australia — Monday, following her return from London, Wikinews talked with Amanda Carter, the longest-serving member of Australia’s national wheelchair basketball team (the Gliders).
((Wikinews)) You’re Amanda Carter!
((WN)) And, where were you born?
((WN)) It says here that you spent your childhood living in Banyule?
((WN)) Okay. And you used to play netball when you were young?
((WN)) And you’re an occupational therapist, and you have a son called Alex?
((WN)) Any more children?
((WN)) You began playing basketball in 1991.
((WN)) And that you’re a guard.
((WN)) And that you are a one point player.
((WN)) And you used to be a two point player?
((WN)) When were you first selected for the national team?
((WN)) And that was for Barcelona?
((WN)) How did we go?
((WN)) And what was Barcelona like?
((WN)) Did you play with a club as well?
((WN)) The 1994 World Championships. Where was that at?
((WN)) Which brings us to 1996.
((WN)) Your team finished fourth.
((WN)) Lost to the Unites States in the bronze medal game in front of a crowd of 5,000.
((WN)) That must have been awesome.
((WN)) They also have a fondness for the sport.
((WN)) They kept on saying in London that the Gliders have never won.
((WN)) So that was Atlanta. Then there was another tournament, the 1998 Gold Cup.
((WN)) How did we go in that?
((WN)) But that qualified… no, wait, we didn’t need to qualify…
((WN)) You were the second leading scorer in the event, with thirty points scored for the competition.
((WN)) In basketball, some of the low pointers do pretty well.
((WN)) I notice the scores seem lower than the ones in London.
((WN)) How often do the Gliders get together? It seems that you are all scattered all over the country normally.
((WN)) That’s reasonably often.
((WN)) I didn’t see you training in Sydney this time… then you went over to…
((WN)) 2000. Sydney. Two Australia wins for the first time against Canada. In the team’s 52–50 win against Canada you scored a lay up with sixteen seconds left in the match.
((WN)) That brings us to the 2000 Paralympics. It says you missed the practice game beforehand because of illness, and half the team had some respiratory infection prior to the game.
((WN)) You scored twelve points against the Netherlands, the most that you’ve ever scored in an international match.
((WN)) At one point you made four baskets in a row.
((WN)) The team beat Japan, and went into the gold medal game. You missed the previous days’ training session due to an elbow injury?
((WN)) During the match, you were knocked onto your right side, and…
((WN)) Someone just bumped you?
((WN)) You were knocked down and you tore the tendons in your elbow, which required an elbow reconstruction…
((WN)) You spent eleven weeks on a CPM machine – what’s a CPM machine?
((WN)) You’re right handed?
((WN)) So, how’s the movement in the right arm today?
((WN)) You still can’t fully flex the right hand.
((WN)) How old is he now?
((WN)) So that recurs, does it?
((WN)) So you gave up wheelchair basketball after the 2000 games?
((WN)) Did they cover you from the 2000 injury?
((WN)) Who was that?
((WN)) Back in the Gliders again.
((WN)) And of course you got selected for 2012…
((WN)) My recollection is that you weren’t on the court a great deal, but there was a game when you scored five points?
((WN)) That was against Mexico.
((WN)) The strange thing was that afterwards the Mexicans were celebrating like they’d won…
((WN)) The speed at which things move is quite astonishing.
((WN)) Because you are the more experienced player.
((WN)) And now you have another silver medal.
((WN)) We double-checked, and there was nobody else on the team who had been in Sydney, much less Barcelona or Atlanta.
((WN)) Most of the Gliders seem to have come together in 2004, the current roster.
((WN)) Are you still playing?
((WN)) You would have been isolated from him anyway.
((WN)) Fair enough.
((WN)) You will continue playing with the club?
((WN)) Is there anything else you’d like to say about your record? Which is really impressive. I can count the number of Paralympians who were on Team Australia in London who were at the Sydney games on my fingers.
((WN)) Greg Smith obviously, who was carrying the flag…
((WN)) What I basically wanted to ask was what sort of changes you’ve seen with the Paralympics over that time — 1992 to 2012.
((WN)) To me… London… the coverage on TV in Britain, but also here, some countries are ahead of others, but basically it’s being treated like the Olympics.
((WN)) Huge crowds…
((WN)) I was looking around the North Greenwich Arena…And that arena! The seats went up and up and up! And as it was filling on the night, you could see that even that top deck had people sitting in it. I guess in 2000 even, to fill stadiums, which we did, we gave APC and school programs, a lot of school kids came to fill seats and things. We didn’t necessarily see that in London. They were paid seats! People had gone out and spent money on tickets to come and see that sport.
((WN)) I saw school groups at the football and the goalball, but not at the basketball.
((WN)) I was very impressed with the standard of play.
((WN)) What’s in Osaka?
((WN)) After the Paralympics.
((WN)) And then after that?
((WN)) How many tournaments do they normally play each year?
((WN)) You played a tournament in the Netherlands?
((WN)) Thank you very much for that.

A short trailer for the movie Dark Floors, a horror starring Finnish theatrical hard rock band Lordi, has been released.
The film, set in a hospital, follows a group of people left trapped by a broken lift as they are attacked by monsters, and focuses heavily on one particular patient, a little autistic girl.
Dark Floors, acted in English by a largely Finnish cast, cost €4.2 million (approximately US$6 million) to make. It will make its full premiere in Finland on February 8, 2008, although advance screenings will begin this year.
Lordi recently attended the Cannes Film Festival to promote the movie, where the band’s lead vocalist and frontman described it as a “traditional modern horror” and promised “horrific scenes.”

In February 2017, the Iranian Chess Federation announced two teenage chess players, Dorsa Derakhshani and her younger brother Borna Derakhshani, were banned from representing the national team. The federation announced their decision although Dorsa Derakhshani had previously decided and informed the chess federation she did not wish to play for Iran.
Dorsa Derakhshani is currently 21 years old and holds the International Master (IM) as well as Woman Grand Master (WGM) titles. Her brother, Borna, plays for the English Federation and holds the FIDE Master title.
Dorsa Derakhshani was banned since she did not wear a hijab, an Islamic headscarf, while competing at the Tradewise Gibraltar Chess Festival in January 2017. Under the laws of Islamic Republic of Iran, hijab is a mandatory dress code. Her brother Borna Deraskhsani was banned for playing against Israeli Grand Master (GM) Alexander Huzman at the same tournament. Iran does not recognise the existence of Israel, and previously, Irani athletes have avoided playing against Israeli athletes.
Mehrdad Pahlavanzadeh, the president of the country’s chess federation, explained the decision to ban the players saying, “As a first step, these two will be denied entry to all tournaments taking place in Iran and in the name of Iran, they will no longer be allowed the opportunity to be present on the national team.” ((fa))Farsi language: ?????? ????? ?? ??? ??? ?? ??? ????? ?? ?? ???? ???????? ?? ?? ????? ? ?? ??? ????? ?????? ??????? ????? ??????? ? ???? ???? ???? ?? ??? ??? ?? ??????? ????. He further stated, “Unfortunately, something that should not have happened has happened and our national interest is paramount and we have reported this position to the Ministry of Sports.” ((fa))Farsi language: ????????? ?????? ?? ????? ????????? ?????? ??? ? ????? ??? ?? ?? ?? ???? ?????? ???? ? ?? ??? ???? ?? ?? ????? ???? ?? ????? ?????.
IM Dorsa Derakhshani, who currently studies at Saint Louis University in the United States and plays for the United States Chess Federation, discussed her chess career, time in Iran and the 2017 controversy, and her life in Saint Louis with a Wikinews correspondent.

Twenty-four cars of a west-bound Canada Pacific train were thrown from the tracks after the train collided with a semi tractor-trailer in poor weather and visibility near Regina, Saskatchewan around 11 a.m. Tuesday morning. The driver was rushed to hospital.
The accident took place on a level section of Highway 46 just north of Highway 1, about 25 kilometres east of Regina. The RCMP spokesperson reported the crossing is marked with lights, but weather may have played a role.
“Road conditions were wet and sloppy and it’s foggy,” RCMP Cpl. Brian Jones said to the CBC. The bad weather, including a heavy overnight snowfall, may have contributed to the accident.
Most of the 93 cars in the train were empty bulk transit cars, used for moving agricultural products such as grains. The RCMP report that neither train or truck were transporting any hazardous materials.
Birthstones and Symbolism

The argument that we have a predestined fate, and that we make our destiny is an age old one, being the object of discussion in many a philosophical conversation. It is also an argument that can never have a proven conclusion, only believers in either, by choice as a result of experience. Birthstone gemstones are closely related to the astral powers that be, according to the believers.
Every sun sign has a birthstone gemstone associated with it, which is supposed to be lucky for the person born during that period. This is the simplest of explanations of birthstones. People use various stones hoping for various affects that the stone will have on their lives. At the same time, people avoid contact with certain stones that will bring them bad luck and misery. Although this may seem like something out of a fairy tale to westernized society, these things are practiced extravagantly in countries like India, where people go to the ‘learned man’ (probably a palm reader), who looks at the palm and foresees an event about to go wrong, and provides the means to avoid that event by wearing one gem stone, removing one, and things like that. Some may laugh at the idea, while others follow their birthstone gemstones related issues with religious belief. Psychology says if you believe you are doing something to help solve a problem, that is half the battle won, call it psychology, call it faith, but if you wear a gemstone in the belief that it will help you, then it will! If you don’t wear a stone knowing well that you need to, you are probably going to make some mistakes! Anyway this was the original idea behind gemstones and why people wore them. Today, many women choose birthstone gemstones as ornaments with jewel value, if nothing more. Many people wear their birthstone as a symbol of their identity. Whatever the reason, gemstones are very beautiful objects that ignite a spark in your emotions, and make you stare at them in awe. Birthstone gemstones have various divisions like mystical stones, ayurvedic (Indian) stones, modern, traditional, astrological, planetary, talismanic and ancient cultural birthstones. Each category has a story and a reasoning behind it, each stone is believed to be special, and is great fun if nothing else, to hear why a stone is special and how it will help your life, and how it is meant specially for the particular individual in question. In western society, gemstones and birthstones reached heights of popularity during the hippie days, when people began experimenting with eastern philosophies, and today offer a sweet reminder of those times to many a person who lived their youth during that period. Gemstones come in every imaginable color (including black by the way), which provide an opportunity to wear a stone with practically any color theme. Birthstone gemstones come in a variety of sizes as well, and like any other jewelry, the bigger they are, the more rare , and thereby more expensive they are. As far as the fashion oriented use of gemstones and birthstone goes, smaller ones are used on rings and earrings and somewhat larger on necklaces and pendants. Gemstones vary in price from a few dollars to a few hundred dollars!

At 12:50 pm on January 3, a ski chairlift ride cost a German skier’s life and another German woman was left with serious injuries after the lift cable derailed from the mast sheaves in a windstorm. The derailed chairlift is the two-seater Fallboden lift at Kleine Scheidegg, next to the Jungfrau mountain in Switzerland.
Two more Australian tourists were lightly injured. About 20 further people had to be evacuated from the stopped chairlift. Wind velocity peaking at 90km/h prevented a helicopter from rescuing the trapped passengers, complicating the rescue.
According to 20min.ch, the lift was manufactured by Garaventa AG, a major Swiss ski lift company, now a part of an international group Doppelmayr/Garaventa. When contacted no one was available for comment.
Shortly before the accident, a wind alarm was activated few times by a 60km/h wind. The operator decided to close the lift and waited for the lift to unload all passengers; at the moment of the catastrophe the bottom station of the lift was already closed, but 75 passengers were still on the lift.
According to the Swiss law, every chair lift must be designed to withstand a lateral wind load of 250 newtons (approx. 25kg) per square meter. However there is no law limit at which wind speed or lateral loads the chair lifts have to be stopped. This safety aspect is left to the responsibility of the operator. The safety of the lift was checked by the Swiss Federal Office of Transport in January 2006. This chairlift accident is said to be the worst in Switzerland for the last 8 years.
