They prefer the use of bi-fold doors because of plenty of reasons. One reason is that bi-fold doors do not consume to much space. This is great for dividing different section of the house instead of putting a heavy and space-consuming hard wall. Another reason is that bi-fold doors make things accessible. When used to closets, one can easily access his or her things. There are also other people who prefer using bi-fold doors because it looks great architecturally and aesthetically. Bi-folding doors are famous and are being used in architecture for more than 10 years now. Process of Installing Bi-fold Doors

1. First thing to do is to prepare everything you need. Make sure you are complete with all the necessary things. You need to prepare the bi-fold doors, handles or door knobs, trim screws, drill, hacksaw, plumb bob, mounting hardware, hinges, pivot and pivot plate. If you will buy bi-fold doors from a manufacturer, most of the time a packages comes with all the hardware needed.

2. Identify the two sides of your bi-fold doors. Mark it with something to differentiate the two sides. By doing this, you can avoid installing the doors on the wrong way. There are times when people finished installing the bi-fold doors before realizing they installed it backwards.

3. Next, make sure the hinges are aligned. Use the drill to put the trim screws.

4. After drilling the screws, it’s time to put the track or mounting hardware. You also need to put the pivot plates and drill it with screws. Putting the screws will keep it in place. If you bought a bi-fold door package, check if there is a manual included. If there is, follow the instructions there on how to put the hardware.

5. Next thing to do is the floor brackets. Remember not to screw the floor brackets unless you are sure that the doors have the right square shape. Using the plumb bob, put your floor bracket. The plumb bob is to make sure that it is aligned properly.

6. Now, everything is prepared and you can hang the doors. Put the pin on the pivot plate and check the position of everything using the plumb bob. If the positions are all fine, it is time to secure the door by adjusting the lever on the pivot plate.

7. At this point, you can now put the handle or the door knob.

8. Test it and that’s it.
